Les outils de test commerciaux iMacros et eValid

Concernant les tests des applications web, je me suis posé la question s’il est possible de tester des applets. Cette problématique pourrait être généralisée aux autres technologies comme Flash Silverlight. Les outils libres ne semblent pas répondre à cette question. Je me suis tourné vers des outils commerciaux, iMacros et eValid.

IMacros existe sous forme de plugin pour navigateur web en freeware, également pour une utilisation commerciale. Ce plugin existe pour les navigateurs Firefox et Internet Explorer. Les tests sont écrits avec un langage de script spécifique. Il existe un enregistreur. Le site d’Iopus déclare que iMacros supporte les technologies Flash, Flex, Java, Silverlight. Dans la pratique le freeware ne semble pas fonctionner correctement, et le principe semble de repérer au pixel près la position du curseur. Est-ce réellement portable.

Le second outil qui peut répondre à ce problème est eValid. Je n’ai pas pu réellement le tester.

    The reason Java Applets are so problematic is that Applets are
    opaque when seen through the browser.

    eValid’s PageMap shows “Object” when examining the DOM for
    such objects in a web page.

    Even though you can’t work with the internal details of an
    Applet — which by virtue of security constraints (i.e. “the
    sandbox”) are not available for inspection through the JRE –
    eValid can still record and replay inputs and responses in
    “application mode”. Users find this mode very effective.

    By the way, Adobe Flash objects have the same limitation, but
    eValid treats them the same way, also with good effectiveness.

    More recent technology, such as Microsoft’s Silverlight and
    Adobe’s FLEX (which is replacing Flash), do provide limited
    access to the internal details of the object. Look for
    support for these kings if Rich Internet Applications (RIAs)
    in future editions of eValid.
